Thread Faction SS2016 The Tour! And Giveaway!

If you read my blog if anything stands out it's that I love to sew. One of my favorite things about sewing is watching the raw materials "magically" turn into something beautiful and new. I especially love trying new designers and testing patterns. I was shocked and pleased to see Liz's email asking me if I would like to be a part of her blog tour for her summer line of patterns for girls, Thread Faction Collection SS2016. I quickly showed the patterns to my girls and they picked out two of their favorites. I must say that Liz's patterns are amazing. My favorite part is all the attention to detail. If you only have basic beginner knowledge you can  pick up one of Liz's patterns and create something lovely. She walks you through each step in word and pictures. She explains how to make adjustments to fit whomever you are sewing for so that you can create perfectly fitted pieces. My girls chose #104 and #107. They love them. They snatched these tops and dresses up right after I finished them and it's been hard trying to catch them clean so that I could snap some pics. Haha. My oldest even requested more of #107, but so that she can wear them as nightgowns too. Thread Faction patterns are perfect for your go to summer wardrobe to keep your girls comfortable and cool.

Expanding My Sewing Abilities

It is no secret that I love sewing. I have been sewing since I was a little girl, well over 20 years. Up until recently the majority of my sewing has been with woven fabric, knits scared me. Well, I decided no more. I am going to grow my sewing abilities and expand into knit. I love wearing knit, it's so comfortable and I want to be able to sew knit as well. My first pattern that I sewed up for knit I was actually pattern testing. I know crazy, but if I can do it a beginner then anybody can. The pattern I tested was The Willow Skirt and Shorts by Stitch Upon A Time. I was surprised at just how easy knit actually was. It is different than woven, but not so much that I needed to shy away from it. I went on to purchase the Boxerwear Bundle for Men and Women, the Spoxxy Top, and the Artemis Top and Dress patterns. I have sewn all of these except the Artemis Dress version. Everyone agrees these are the most comfortable items we own. The girls and I would wear our Spoxxy and Artemis every day if we could. I guess that means I need to sew up some more. Roochie has been asking me to make him something so now I'm off to choose which knit boy patterns I want to try first.
